Students live with local families who usually live in the same neighbourhood where the school is located. Often the homestay program is organized and supervised by the school administration. Schools recruit host families and assign them to international students based on a variety of matched interests.
The homestay parents are responsible for providing the students with healthy meals, a clean and comfortable bedroom. The school administration staff maintain constant and direct contact with both the host families and the international student.
Do all schools provide in-house homestay services?
In some cases, schools outsource the homestay services through local companies which recruit, interview, train, and monitor the families. This ensures international students have a safe and healthy environment.
International students will be integrated into the host family dynamics, exercising mutual respect but also, abiding by the family rules and accepting guidance with maturity. Students live an authentic cultural and language immersion experience outside school.
